I called on an open house ad in the newspaper (pre-smartphones!) and spoke to a nice realtor who asked me to call him if I needed any help. Later that day I visited an open house and called him back to write an offer. While he was a wonderful realtor, being a newbie, little did I know that wasn’t the best way to handle things.

How much does a Buyer's Agent cost?

Under the 2024 National Association of Realtors settlement Buyers are responsible for paying their own agent unless the Seller offers a concession.  Fees are always negotiable, but in practice our fee is 2.5% - a little less than average, with a lot more service.  As part of any offer you make on a property, we recommend you request the Seller to cover the fee, as is customary.  If you'd rather do your own searching and call us when you're ready to write an offer (which I don't recommend but in fairness, it's what I did when I bought my first home) then we have a discounted fee for that service.
